Dear Prospective Members;

Welcome….

South Florida Bass Pro’s was started in 1977, our members include variety of seasoned anglers to beginners. The most important thing is having fun doing what we love to do, Bass Fishing.

So, if you’re thinking about joining a Bass Club, check us out. You will find a sense of welcome from the first meeting to your first weigh-in.

We have compiled a list of questions and answers that will hopefully give you a good idea about our club membership requirements. We are actively seeking new members this year, so now is the time to join.

Questions and Answers

How do I get started?

Attend one of our monthly meetings; they are the first Tuesday of every month from 7:30 PM to 8:30PM, located at Galuppi’s which is located at 1103 NE US 1, Pompano Beach. Call 954-785-0226 for additional directions.

Tournaments are usually the following Saturday after the tournament meeting. Start time will begin at safe light (usually about 15 min prior to Sunrise) and end at 2:00 or 3:00pm.

You may also email the club directly at Info@southfloridabasspros.com for more information or any questions you may have.

What are the requirements to become a member?

No boat required! (however there may be restrictions if the ratio of Boaters to Non-boaters is off)

You must be 18 years old.

You must attend two meetings and two tournaments within a 3 month period. Once this is completed you will be eligible for membership. Active members will then cast their votes on your acceptance.

You will not be able to compete for points until the above requirements are met. You may however participate in the Tournaments and are eligible for prize money.

Where does the club fish?

Most of our Tournaments are Single Day.

Our single day tournaments range from Lake Istokpoka to Holiday Park to Lake Okeechobee. Normal driving times range from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

There are (2) two day and (10) one day tournaments per year. The 2 Day tournaments are sometimes a 2-3 hour drive. The club does not fish in August due to the extreme summer heat.

What do I need to bring on my first Tournament?

The day starts early so bring drinks, snacks, lunch, etc. If you will be fishing on another anglers boat, arrange with that angler to either bring a small cooler or there may be room on the boat cooler.

Fishing rods, tackle box and bait (no live bait allowed), sunglasses, sunscreen, bug repellent, and rain suit is suggested. If you have your own life jacket bring it even though most boat members will have a spare.

Who will I fish with on my first tournament?

It is very important to come to the tournament meeting on the Tuesday prior to the tournament. If you are sponsored by a Club member you are allowed to fish with that member OR if you found our club on the Internet or some other way, then your name will be drawn by a Club boater randomly, and you will fish with that member.

If I own a boat, can I bring it to the first tournament?

Yes, there is no rule that prohibits you from doing so, however you may find it helpful to go with a member on your first tournament.

What happens if I do not catch fish?

No problem. Joining a club will introduce you to a variety of different fishing methods. Watch, ask questions and soon you will develop your own style and “go-to” baits. Becoming a better angler is all about time on the water learning/trying different patterns while on the hunt. If you are an advanced angler then we’ll like the added competition!  We can all learn a new trick or two.

What happens if the member does not catch a fish?

It happens! You can always report their name to the Club President and perhaps they will win the “Mullet” hat award!!!!

What happens if I miss a tournament during the year?

If you are looking to place in the top 3 positions for the year, the more tournaments you attend the better chance you will have. However, our scoring system drops the two lowest scores of your fishing year so you can miss two tournaments and still be in the points. There is no penalty for missing tournaments. It’s all about having a good time.

What fees do I have to pay?

Club dues are $216.00 per year or $18 dollars a month. If the entire year dues are paid in advance at the beginning of the season (September) a discount of $36 is granted.  Dues are used to pay for regular cub expenses approved by the membership, and a year-end awards banquet for the membership.

Tournament entry fees: 20.00 per angler per Tournament (including Big Fish Pot of $5.00) There is an optional Progressive Big Fish Pot of $2 per Anger per month, any fish over 7 Lbs wins the pot. Each month that no one wins rolls over to the next month.

It is customary for the Co Angler to offer the boater $25.00 to offset boating expenses each day of fishing.
